This is one of London's hidden treasures. Hidden away in Whitehall, it was the sovereign's official residence from 1530 to 1698 when the original building was destroyed by fire. What remained is left today and it houses the Rubens ceiling, the only painting remaining in situe by Sir Peter Paul Rubens.
The architecture of the building is unique, having been designed by Inigo Jones in the early 1600's, it is derived from Roman style, based on a Basilica.
