Kensington Palace is a working Royal residence of great historical importance. Kensington Palace was the favourite residence of successive sovereigns until 1760. It was also the birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria. Today Kensington Palace accommodates the offices and private apartments of a number of members of the Royal Family. Although managed by Historic Royal Palaces, the Palace is furnished with items from the Royal Collection.

 
 
How to arrive:



By London Underground
Circle/District lines to High Street Kensington or Central Line to Queensway or Notting Hill Gate.

Please note that the Circle Line will be closed during the following weekends in 2004/5: 1-3, 8-9, 22-23 May, 5-6 June, 10-11 July, 14-15 August, 4-5, 11-12 September, 23-24, 30-31 October, 20-21 November, 4-5 December 2004, 22-23 January, 5-6, 19-20 February, 5-6 March 2005. The District Line between Earl's Court and Whitechapel will also be closed during these weekends.

Kensington Palace is a 10-15 minute walk from High Street Kensington station. As you leave the ticket hall, walk straight through the shopping centre to emerge on to Kensington High Street and turn right. Kensington Palace is located in the grounds of Kensington Gardens, which are located on the left-hand side of Kensington High Street. Once inside Kensington Gardens follow directional signs to the palace.

From Queensway station, exit right; cross over the road and enter Kensington Gardens from the north side. The palace is located on the west side of the gardens, ahead of you.

By bus Bus routes: 12 and 94 to Bayswater Road or 9, 10, 27, 28, 49, 52, 52A, 70, 328 and C1 to Kensington High Street.
